international meet... while still in high school!

currently does full-time ministry work
motivational speaker for all youth, Christian and of other faiths.
credits "Godly principles" of abstinence and discipline for keeping her
career on track.
says God's friendship makes it easier to accept our vulnerability...
Invincibility is a fantasy that cannot last.
Dance Steps
Dance is Madeline's favorite pastime today... a form of exercise that
fits into hectic travel and is wonderfully expressive.
Madeline says, dance does not have to be obscene; it can be beautiful.
The dress a dancer wears affects the whole performance. Costumes can be
very symbolic.
I have always run for Jesus, and now I am dancing for him. Madeline's
dance performances combine ballet, modern, and jazz, but they are not
choreographed. She calls it "worship dance," an impromptu, personal
conversation with God.
Madeline's Book
titled The Hope of Glory.
an autobiography.
about historical events (e.g. the '72 Munich massacre) that were part of
Madeline's life.
She enjoys reliving the drama of Olympic competition.
She feels a responsibility to tell her story. She made her way from the
ghettos of Cleveland, catapulted to fame in the racially charged '60s, and
learned to rely on God.
Runner's Recipe for Success
Sleep! Her regime was an early bedtime and rising at 5 a.m.
Discipline your social life! Late nights and wild parties do not last,
but your achievements can.
Cigarettes and alcohol will slow you down. Madeline saw European
athletes smoke as a matter of culture, but never saw a prominent distance
runner smoke.
Having it both ways? Sure, lots of talented athletes try it, but the
success is short-lived. Without work and sacrifice, stars like that
develop destructive habits that ruin their career and personal
life.
Words to Life Athletes
Follow Jesus with your life and you will be able to keep your
promises.
"Follow" means not to lead; it means letting go!
In today's society, it's hard to hear the internal checks that tell us
when things don't feel right. We're like houses without walls. Knowing
God is so important.
